The borehole

A trip to the borehole to fetch water for cooking and laundry is just an everyday part of the Afro-scape.

Small children and women carry the unwieldy 20-litre jerrycans up to 4 times a day on their heads or between their legs.

But for Mary, it’s more than just a physical ordeal.

The borehole she visits every day is the same from which she was abducted by the LRA. She was just 6 years old.
