On Murdered & Missing Aboriginal Women In Canada by marcellison

Since the Conservatives announced a new national funding strategy for missing persons, members of the First Nations community have felt their initiatives have been sidelined.

Yesterday aboriginal groups rallied on Parliament Hill.

They called for new funding for the Sisters in Spirit initiative.

Sisters in Spirit is a database of missing and murdered aboriginal women.

The bulk of the government’s new money is going to the R-C-M-P…instead of aboriginal groups that have been working on the issue for the last five years.
