CHILD SOLDIERS

The Lord’s Resistance Army terrorized northern Uganda for two decades, abducting more than 30,000 children to fuel its rebellion against the government of President Yoweri Museveni. Girls as young as six were forced to kill, to loot, and to become bush wives. But even when a conflict ends, war is only half the story.

Marc worked with Ugandan illustrator Christian Mafigiri to tell the stories of female ex-combatants in an award-winning interactive graphic novel for Al Jazeera, documenting their struggle to rebuild lives forever fractured by war.

Here are a selection of photographs from the project.
